My Generative AI Origin Story
At the dawn of ChatGPT’s initial launch, a friend showed it to me. He was using it for everything from childcare tips to writing a play about his family.
I remember feeling there was a magical quality about it that I hadn’t seen in the tech world for a long time. It was something new.
I tested its limits asking different things that I thought it couldn’t do. I then tried to make it useful testing different tasks I had to do to see how much help it could provide. I found it to be helpful with brainstorming and writing first drafts of copy for work.
There were also some entertainment values in writing haikus about my friend’s dogs and telling stories about made-up worlds.
Since then, many different generative AI models have come on the scene each providing a different twist on AI chatbot first launched by OpenAI. Each offering their unique take on the AI chatbot concept pioneered by OpenAI. These innovations continue to revolutionize how we interact with technology and streamline our daily tasks.
Getting Started with AI
It’s likely you have used AI without knowing it. If you use social media, then you’ve used AI as your feed is curated by AI.
If Gmail completes your sentences for you like it does for me, then you’ve used AI.
Getting started with generative AI like, ChatGPT, can feel intimidating but it doesn’t have to be.
Here’s some advice for using generative AI:
Try it today. AI should be for everyone so just give it a try.
Be curious. If you have questions AI might be able to help you answer them.
Have fun! Explore and play with AI.
I recommend starting with Pi.ai because it has more emotional intelligence than other models. It was created specifically to have a high EQ. It’s been my favorite large language model (LLM) for many months.
A 7-Step Pi Recipe for AI Beginners
Head over to Pi.ai and create an account.
Start with a prompt: A prompt is a question or task you give to an AI model.
PROMPT: What are the most common uses of Pi.ai?
Try our any of the suggestions it provides that seem interesting to you.
Ask any questions you may have about Pi.ai or AI in general to Pi.ai.
Ask follow up questions or clarifications on its answer.
Explore the cards on the left that showcase what Pi.ai can do.Remember all AI models can make mistakes or have hallucinations so it’s important to make sure you double check the AI’s outputs.

I know people that use Pi.ai for journaling and for writing emails to their kid’s teachers. AI is here to help you. It can solve for tasks that you don’t want to do.
Expanding to Other AI Models
After playing with Pi.ai for a bit it’s time to expand to other models. This will allow you to see what’s available and if one of them is a better fit for your needs.
For example, Pi.ai is my go-to for most things. However, if I am doing research or want information from the internet Perplexity works better.
